If I leave plex running for a while with ss-plex channel added, when I come back, I have a bunch of new favorites, and 60-650 new downloads in queue.
Have you seen this behavior before?
I'm running on centos 7: here is an example of the log:
2015-03-08 15:23:00,935 - ss.plex - INFO Adding House of Lies from favorites
let me know if you need anything from me.

Wow I have never seen any behaviour like this.

What are you using to access your Plex library? It sounds like it could be the client pre-fetching links.

I am using the android app, and most likely logged into the web client also.
Let me know if you need anymore info from me, I will do whatever I can to
help out. SS-Plex is the best channel out there.
Thanks
Joe

Hey Mike,

I also just added this to closed issue #23

I've had the same issue, The link above is currently broken.
I've cleared my favorites, and all of the downloads.
I added 4 new favorites, and all seemed to be ok for a few hours. Then after that, I noticed my favorites went to 0, but I had 36 things downloading. Later on I had quite a few things added to my favorites.
If you can share how to fix it, that would be great, or let me know what you need to fix the issue.
Thank you very much for your work on this, its a great channel.

Let me know if there is an testing I can do to help you out.

It seems like it is triggered when there is a download added/in-progress.
I removed all favorites, and cleared all the downloads.
It was fine for 10 or so hours, I then went and found a movie, and clicked watch later, and it started to download.
About an hour later I checked and noticed I had a lot of new favorites (30+), and about the same amount of things downloading.

I am getting the same issue.

First, thank you all who have contributed to this awesome product.

I'm also getting the same issue. I'm seeing 150-200 downloads in progress. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing to trigger it. I'm using FireFox web browser to use ss-plex, and an Android phone to remove downloads (because its somewhat less painful) via Plex app and its integration with ss-plex. I'm also connected via Roku channel and xPLay on LG Web OS but not using either lately and still seeing this issue, and xPlay does not support channels.

Reset everything does not cancel downloads, must be cancelled manually to clear.

Here are some observations that seem strange to me

  • Can go long periods of time (5+ hours) before problem appears. Problem comes back within minutes of removing downloads (one by one).
  • I removed ss-plex bundle and re-installed. Problem came back. Seems to imply its not related to a persisted state inside ss-plex
  • I see messages in the log that say the download queue is empty, and then immediately another log message saying it had downloaded something. I see log INFO messages that says Adding
from Favorites. I see Dispatching download messages.
  • No log message when I reset everything,

I've reached the point where I'm removing ss-plex until resolved, which is horrible because this is an awesome effort. I would be glad to help out here if you can point me in the right direction. I'm a very experienced developer but my Python is weak.

I'm wondering what file the favorites is actually stored in? Is it an SS-Plex plugin specific file or a Plex file?

I'm also receiving this issue on SS Plex. Started a number of weeks ago. It keeps randomly adding 160+ TV shows to my favourites. Cleared the favourites numerous times, but they keep coming back.

Any update on a fix for this issue?

Thanks

I uninstalled the channel and found these two folders hanging around.. I think It probably explains why the favorites/downloads keep coming back if the channel is re-installed again.

...Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches/com.plexapp.plugins.wso
...Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data/com.plexapp.plugins.wso

Remove these two folders and re-install the channel.. It should be cleaned up again.

I am a little uneasy as to why these are appearing.. I hope this isnt some sort of back door hackery.. I will be keeping a close eye on the files/folders for sure..

Update: the downloads started again after a while.

After hours of research I ran across this note -

Could be possibly be one of these two issues buried deep in this long thread - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1030444#Comment_1030444

  1. LG "smart share"(dlna) has been known to cause issues with 3rd party channels on Playon maybe it's doing the same with ssplex.
    http://www.playonscripts.com/?w=forums&p=15635
If possible I would turn off dlna from the plex server settings and see if the mystery downloads continue

I do have a new LG TV with the "smart share" feature. As suggested, I disabled the dlna server in plex to see if this issue finally goes away.

It appears disabling the DLNA server in Plex might have resolved this issue. I put ss-plex through a few scenarios - adding, removing etc... Overnight everything seems to still be normal.

For me, this is no impact as I use Plex clients for accessing PMS, but others that need the DLNA server might have to find another workaround.

Obviously if anything changes I will report it.. but for a day now the issue has not re-appeared.

Yesterday I tested, just by disabling dlna didn't work. So I removed pled server, updated to the current version, disabled dlna, then installed the plugin.
It seems to be working great, I'm going to monitor, but it's solid so far.

Glad to hear you are having success. I should have included the info
too that I started from a perfectly clean install of the plugin. I had
removed it previously and deleted the cache and data 'wso' dirs-

Support/Caches/com.plexapp.plugins.wso
