Summary:
Related to #53, creating another FR for importing from CSV.

Ideally one could just copy/paste from excel or another program, or focalboard could provide a template, or it could try to read a CSV and spit out what it gets.

Bumping up the priority on this, and putting it up for grabs. I think the basic requirements would be:

  1. Upload a .CSV file, with column headers that exactly match the property names of the cards
    a. This should match the columns when exporting a CSV file, but note that those columns depend on what's visible in the view
    b. There must be a "Name" column at a minimum. Cancel if not.
  2. P2: Confirm adding N cards with the user (show a Ok / Cancel dialog)
  3. Create new cards, one per row

cc @asaadmahmood, @wuwinson, @sbishel. Feel free to add additional thoughts. Bumping up in priority because Finance is asking for this feature to import their AORs, and it's also a workaround to bulk import data / create cards.

it may also help to look at exports to csv from airtable or notion as they currently exist, a checkbox is exported as "checked" from both for example. this would be useful if a future feature that allowed auto-importing of property types was implemented

I'd really like to see this as a current user of Notion with a voluminous (to me) recently established setup. I wish I'd heard of Focalboard before I imported/converted all of my GDrive, OneNote, Trello, et al notes into Notion! It would be GLORIOUS if I could use the Notion "Markdown and CSV" export (or PDF or HTML export) to get everything into Focalboard without rebuilding the Empire State Building. Again.

Hi @tinkicker, thanks for sharing your feedback! We have basic import scripts for Trello, Notion, Asana, Jira, and Todoist. Hope that helps!

Import cards from a CSV would be a great feature.
How I imagine it:
Create a card template, and in there having an option to create and export a sample CSV.
Fill your sample CSV with your existing Data and in the Board there should be an option to import the card CSV
Unfortunately I don't have the skills to support with coding.
I do have an Excel sheet with 150 rows with potational card data though. And would love to test.
