At the moment, MDCTabBarController only handles the Bottom Navigation usage, but that use is going to be deprecated in favor of MDCBottomNavigationController in the near future. We could still have an example where MDCTabBarController manages its Material Tabs with child VCs, but it's not currently planned.

@romoore Thank for your reply. I always wonder how Youtube, Google App like google drive, google photos and other apps they implemented those tabBars which positioned on top and manage each controllers. Could you give me some advice for that?

@SamboVisal I don't know about their apps directly, but I would expect they write something similar to MDCBottomNavigationBarController (except using MDCTabBar) and handle typical view controller containment.
