Upstream to esphome?

Is it possible that this component will be natively implemented in main esphome repo?

I'm about to switch my modbus reads from main HA machine to ESP, but I'm also afrad that some day it may get out of sync for whatever reasons with main repo and I will be left without possibility to update (as the ESP will be controlling a lot, not only meter).

If you use https://esphome.io/components/external_components.html you can use the latest or release esphome build, and include any of the modbus development branches.

Thank you for the answer - I'm aware that it's possible, I'm just asking if it's considered or maybe there are some compatibility issues that I'm not aware of that won't allow it to be merged in main repo some day

You can pull directly from the web (the component is "modbus_controller")

works for the most stable version

this is the testing version with multiple device per modbus line and Float FP32 number support

My hardware wait's for -dev then, will test as soon as it's merged. :-)

The PR has been merged yesterday and the conponent is part of esphome now.
