This release includes numerous minor improvements and features. Most of them were planned for the version 0.6 but i backported them from the master branch to the 0.4 branch:

  • Add a "New image with custom size" action (#81)
  • Better "File" menu (in the menubar)
  • More usable "Windows" menu (in the menubar)
  • Fix the units inside the spinbuttons on systems without Cantarell (#55)
  • Improve the preferences window UI
  • Do not close saved but non-blank images when opening a new image
  • Fix the toolbar style (#112)
  • Open or import images with drag-and-drop (#75)
  • Add tooltips on color buttons for colorblind users (#98)

Known bugs:

  • you may have to move the selection to be able to cut (to your clipboard) or delete it.
  • interacting with the selection while several tabs are opened will produce unwanted results. Use several windows instead.

Literally nothing changed, i just really want whoever builds native packages to wake up, read #105, and update their native package, instead of letting some unfinished draft distributed to users of stable distros.

Minor bug fixes

The deb package is compatible with Debian Sid and Ubuntu 19.04 (it is not compatible with Ubuntu 18.04, elementary Juno or Debian Buster), but if you install it you will not have updates. So always prefer flathub.

Here's a PPA https://launchpad.net/~cartes/+archive/ubuntu/drawing/ please prefer flathub anyway

Version 0.4 introduces a new icon, numerous bug fixes, an improved toolbar for the "legacy" and "toolbar only" layouts, an action for creating an image from the clipboard content, a smoother pencil, and various new translations.

Be careful, despite an installation without errors, the deb package is not compatible with Ubuntu 18.04, Debian Buster, elementary Juno and their derivatives: python3-gi needs to be the version 3.30 or more. It can however be installed on Debian Sid and Ubuntu 19.04
