In the Menu Preferences, Main Button tab, you can change the Button icon by browsing to other image files. Often these might be icons that you downloaded from the web and saved in your home folder.
But if you then decide to change it back to the default icon, there's no built in way to do that. And a non-expert user has no idea where the default icon is. It's buried somewhere in the file system.
There are various ways to add a feature to be able to reset the icon to default, but I think the best way would be to replace the file selection box with a drop-down. The first 6 or so items in the drop-down would be the various linuxmint-logo files that come preloaded. And the last item in the drop-down would be "Browse..."
That way the user can just select one of the preloaded/default icons later without having to browse or know where they live in the filesystem.
