melonds core for Retroarch on 3ds

Hey just wondering if there's a way to use melonds on the 3ds Retroarch since it's not in the list of cores Retroarch gives you? I would like to earn RetroAchievements for ds games on my 3ds. If anyone knows how to get the ds core for Retroarch on 3ds please tell me how I would appreciate any help.

If it doesn't list DeSmuME either, then I would suspect that the 3DS isn't powerful enough to run Retroarch and emulate the DS - though the system can run DS games natively.
