Currently, when connecting to a remote station with Pat and Ardop, a maximum of 10 Connection Request frames are sent. If no connection is established during this time, the connection fails. Normally, this works well. However, I have found that sometimes when such a failure occurs, immediately trying again is successful. This suggests that for certain Winlink gateway stations, it might be useful to send a larger number of Connection Request frames. I do not believe that this parameter, which is sent from Pat to Ardop, can be controlled by the user.

I would like to request that an option be added to allow the user to set the number of Connection Request frames that will be sent. I think that adding another field to the "Connect to remote node..." dialog would be best since it would allow the user to choose different values for different stations. However, adding an option in the pat configuration would also be an improvement. For either of these, I believe that the value of 10 currently used is a good default.

This problem was also mentioned by someone else in a message to the ardop users group a couple of months ago. See item 1. in https://ardop.groups.io/g/users/message/5256
