how to make a custom field required by default?

Description:

i have created custom field:

fields:[
                     {
			label: 'Signature',
			type:'signature',
			subtype: 'signature',
			icon: '✍',
			required: true,
                      }
           ]

but adding required : true not working.
Why this is not working?
If i add required:true in email field it is working
