It is boilerplate so such common technique like basic DDoS protection should be also packed within. There is number of npm modules which make it very easy. @kasvith I will implement and create PR.

Sure no worries. I'm just creating API for my new free time project and this boilerplate was only one I could find with technology stack that I wanted (express, passport, jwt) and nice code. Now I'm slowly developing my project and pushing here features which fit to boilerplate because of their reusability.
