It looks like this extension was not in the compatibility table on jupyterlab/jupyterlab#14590, I just added it. If someone would be interested in contributing a PR they may want to follow the steps in the migration guide: https://jupyterlab.readthedocs.io/en/latest/extension/extension_migration.html#jupyterlab-3-x-to-4-x
