Description

There are times when I involve Ice, to reveal the hidden bar, and I see only an empty bar. There are no icons in the bar. When I then open the settings for Ice I see no items in any of the three bars. Note that the always visible items are displayed. Quoting and relaunching Ice resolves the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Unfortunately I do not know how to reproduce this issue.

This is probably a screen capture issue. Does it still persist if you switch spaces (aka desktops)?

That is a good question. I do not know. Should it occur again I will check and let you know.

@jordanbaird this is happening to me as well, and it’s very random (in my case the sections are colored fully white instead of blue, but probably due to different theme/wallpaper settings.

When it happens, I don’t close Ice, but I switch between other open app windows and when I go back to Ice, the sections start showing the icons again and there’s no random background).

It happened to me a couple of times yesterday, today I can’t seem to reproduce it.

I have my MBP Pro 14" attached to 2 external displays and each display is set up as a separate space (activated in "settings" -> "Mission Control" on the very bottom. So I have 3 spaces in total (MBP, DISPLAY-1, DISPLAY-2)

When I click on DISPLAY-1 on an item from the Ice bar, the corresponding app opens as expected. When the item disappears again from the menu bar (no matter if timed or "smart), then it also disappears from the ice bar.
I can restore it, when I go to DISPLAY-2 (=space) and click the menu bar there. Then the missing item from before appears again in the ice bare. Note: it is also missing in the ice bar of that space/display, but you can see how it re-appears there).
Finally, when I return to my other space on DISPLAY-1 again and click the menu bar, then the missing item has returned there, too.

Apparently there is an issue if you run several spaces, which lets items disappear from Ice bar, but reappear when using Ice on other spaces. When I run the MBP and the two displays as a single space together, the issue does not appear.
I also found that the missing item reappear gain after a long period of time. I can't specify the period, but I can be 30 min. or even several hours).

It does not persist when I switch spaces (albeit with a sample size of one).
