Using rclone backend would significantly increase the number of storages that can be used to host the files.
reduced maintenance overhead for cloud changes by relying on an already existing solution.
It may sometimes be easier and sufficient to just set up a cloud drive provider like mega, google drive etc than going the aws s3 route(with specific access policy etc).
