Using Quicksearch 2.28 on KeePass 2.40 Windows.

Quicksearch is great when it works, but it has become highly unreliable for me. Usually the first few searches are fine, but subsequent searches return fewer and fewer results until even one or two letter combinations that should produce hundreds of results return nothing in Quicksearch. Sometimes this seems to have to do with which folder is selected in KeePass, and selecting a parent folder allows it to produce more results.

Reopening the database or restarting KeePass resolves the issue.

I have not been able to determine specific steps to reproduce the issue, and am not sure whether this is caused by time passing, how many searches have been performed, or other KeePass events taking place.

Hi @wmbaum could you check the latest version?

Installed Quicksearch 2.30 and the issue seems to be resolved. Thanks!

Spoke too soon.. The recent update improved the situation, but did not resolve the issue completely.

One reliably reproducible situation is after having used "Synchronize with File...", Quicksearch will fail to find matching entries until the database has been closed and reopened.

There is also some odd behavior where the text field background color will turn red despite having successfully filtered the display with matching entries -- sometimes it will turn back to green after another keystroke.

Hi @wmbaum and @iamkarlson,

Looks like I'm having the same issue, if you want another data point. Using KeePass on Windows 10 for over a year, on the latest 2.40 build, with a few other plugins that work fine. Just added the Quicksearch 2.30 plugin and I've yet to get it to work. The Quicksearch box is there and receives focus when I open the KeePass workspace, but typing in any character changes it to red/no results. And that's with plenty of entries in the current folder, which the regular find box can retrieve just fine.

Let me know if that helps, or if I can provide more details/debug. It looks like a great plugin, I'd love to get it working.

Thanks,
Glen

Hi @wmbaum and @iamkarlson,

FYI, updated Keepass to 2.41 and no change in the behavior. Tried clearing the Quicksearch cache and removing/reinstalling the plugin, multiple restarts of the workspace and still no luck. Every search goes to red/no results the minute I start typing in the toolbar search box. So if there's anything that I can do to help troubleshoot, let me know.

Thanks,
Glen

Hi guys,
Sorry for the late response. I'm quite busy at work so I basically have no time to spend on this. However, I believe it's gonna change soon. It's an idea to write it from scratch and many problems can go. But I can provide you with no deadlines.

Perhaps some insight: Quicksearch was working perfectly for me for about 6 months. So that is everyday, all day, used a lot. Then, I added Dropbox synchronization with my 2 android devices. Immediately, Quicksearch stopped working. It faults out on a single letter even if I select searching in notes. I am following the recommended procedure. My database location has not changed. I use triggers to sync to my dropbox folder when I save and when I open the database. I can sync manually.

Anyway, it seems that the process of syncing, at least to Dropbox, breaks quicksearch. Oh, I'm using the latest (as of Jul 24, 2019) versions of both Quicksearch and Keepass 2.42.1 for Windows on Win10

Search is not easy to use, often can not find. Look forward to updates.
