Terminologies:

  • Shared fridge, the common use fridge used by members.
  • Personal perishables, items that can turn bad. Someone brought it into the space and put it into the fridge. This should exclude known/marked shared items such as frequently purchased soda but exclude unknown/unmarked items such as frozen fish, chocolate bars.

May I suggest that all members be granted the power/will to dispose of all unlabeled personal perishables every Friday of the week? These unlabeled personal perishables should be disposed of regardless whether or not they're still fresh/yet to expire/expired.

There is also a labeling machine in the Hackerspace with the code available on https://github.com/GIANTCRAB/hsg-label-printer . So the process for labeling is relatively easy. The member should ideally include the date of which the item was placed into the fridge but must include their name.
