Similar to #695, but I'm not going to necro that post.

I occasionally play FFXIV on my steam deck using XIVLauncher. For the longest time it worked great, but for the last few months I've been experiencing this behavior where for about 3 out of every 4 launches, the game gets to the title screen, runs for about 5 to 60 seconds, then suddenly quits and puts me back in the Steam home menu.

Checking dalamud.boot.log reveals a single line at the bottom:

Fatal Error. Internal CLR error. (0x80131506)

Sometimes this has a stack trace below it, but most of the time it doesn't. I've already tried deleting the wineprefix folder to no avail.

I'll put version info below:

  • SteamOS Stable 3.5.19
  • XIVLauncher Core v1.1.0.0(08cc538) [flatpak, using recommended launch args]
  • Dalamud 10.0.0.1
  • FFXIV 7.0
    • Though, FWIW, I experienced this during 6.55 as well

Not a solution persay but disabling Dalamud resolved this issue for me, I didn't try testing individual plugins so it may be either Dalamud or a plugin not playing nice on the Steamdeck.

I found that this issue is related to PingPlugin, just disable it quickly and problem resolved.

I've tested with ChatBubble, LMeter, IINACT, everything works fine.
