Following up on Ondřej's suggestion from June's monthly call (see https://fortran-lang.discourse.group/t/fortran-monthly-call-june-2021/1334/14) we want put together a long-term mission statement for Fortran and where we want to be in three years from now.

The actual mission statement can be created collectively in the fortran-lang.org wiki here.

I would like to brainstorm and write down goals that if achieved, would "fix" Fortran, from a practical perspective. I intuitively feel that can be achieved in 3 years, so that's why I chose that time frame.

Surely, a mission statement should be clear, inspirational, and actionable, guiding the community towards a common vision for Fortran's advancement and growth. Collaboration in this process can ensure that it reflects the collective aspirations and values of the Fortran community. Invite key stakeholders, contributors, and community members involved in Fortran development to participate in this mission statement creation. Would love to be part of this mission.
