New and Updated Chef and Knife Gems

This is a new section we're introducing this week. We're running a gem search -r to find Chef-related gems. The search is pretty basic, looking only for 'chef' or 'knife'. Please let us know of Chef-related gems that don't include one of these strings. Check-out the search we're using for knife gems and chef gems; pull requests appreciated!

  • Chef_Solo_Nodes - (0.4.3) - Use with Chef-Solo. Grabs node info as array of Hashes or String ips.
  • buckknife - (0.0.6) - Extras for Chef's knife command
  • chef-handler-sns - (0.1.1) - Chef report handler to send SNS notifications on failures or changes.
  • chef-mail - (0.2.0) - Chef report handler that uses pony to send an email
  • chef-workflow-tasklib - (0.2.1) - A set of rake tasks provided as discrete libraries for forming a chef workflow
  • chef-workflow-testlib - (0.2.0) - Test helpers and assertions for chef-workflow
  • chef-workflow - (0.2.0) - A comprehensive rake-based workflow for chef
  • cluster_chef-knife - (3.0.14) - cluster_chef-knife allows you to orchestrate not just systems but clusters of machines. It includes a powerful layer on top of knife and a collection of cloud cookbooks.
  • cycle_chef_handler - (1.2.2) - This extension of Chef::Handler creates reports in Condor class ad format and posts them to an amqp-complient message broker. This report handler was created to produce reports for the CycleServer Chef Dashboard available from Cycle Computing LLC.
  • dogknife - (0.0.2) - This wrapper exports knife actions to Datadog.
  • knife-bluebox - (0.8.1) - This is the official Opscode Knife plugin for Blue Box. This plugin gives knife the ability to create, bootstrap, and manage Blue Box servers.

  • knife-proxmox - (0.0.15) - This knife plugin allows to access Proxmox Virtualization Environment (Proxmox VE or PVE) through its API. It allows you to lists templates installed on the server/cluster (like images or amis), create a server or destroy it.
  • knife-psearch - (0.0.2) - Knife Plugin for Chef 11's Partial Search.
  • knife-setup - (1.0.5) - Allows you to bootsrap machine and set role and env.
  • knife-solo - (0.2.0) - Handles bootstrapping, running chef solo, rsyncing cookbooks etc.

  • rake-chef-syntax - (0.0.2) - Rake task for chef cookbooks: run cookbook syntax checker (knife cookbook test)
  • searchef - (0.1.0) - Stub your Chef searches with pre-canned responses. Good for use when unit testing or dummying out a Chef run that uses search calls.
  • sous-chef - (0.0.7) - Manage knife-solo nodes
  • sous-chef - (0.0.8) - Rake Tasks for managing knife-solo nodes. Work on this gem as stopped in favor of a knife plugin, knife_sous.
  • yyuu-capistrano-chef-solo - (0.0.8) - a capistrano recipe to invoke chef-solo
