Switch to Reuse for the license headers, and check it in pre-commit.

Hello,
Is this a single license project, or are different versions of the GPL being used depending on the file? If this is a single license project, which version of the GPL would you prefer to be included in reuse?
I am noticing a GPL 2 license text here, a GPL 2 or later header here, and a GPL 3 or later header here.

Oh, good points, thanks. This is a single license project, and I'm pretty sure all the authors want to go with GPL-3.0-or-later (there aren't that many authors ;-) )

Which publication years, and copyright holders should be mentioned in the SPDX-FileCopyrightText portion of the license header?

Here is an example of a reuse header with a SPDX-FileCopyrightText entry.

/*
 * SPDX-FileCopyrightText: 2024 Jane Doe <[email protected]>
 *
 * SPDX-License-Identifier: GPL-3.0-or-later
 */

Edit: Formatting

The copyright year should be 2018-2024 (do we need to specify the range or just the current year? Not sure).

The copyright holder can be: Red Hat, Inc. That's what's currently set in the code.
