Ako Mikaia

How I get my best work done:

• Mostly working with others.
• Doing rather than too many theoretical discussions.
• I prefer to make mistakes and after seeing that its a mistake then let's do some theory talks about it and find out why it didn't work.
• Planning is the key.
• Building a holistic picture of a product through granular planning and knowing the architecture first is definitely that makes things easier for me.

The role I usually take in a team:

• Depends on the team. Usually happy to lead but mostly let others lead instead and support/help them to guide everyone.
• Pretty flexible about most of the things.

My communication style:

• Very open and direct.
• If it feels like we are going down the wrong path I might not say anything but instead, question the path we have taken.

What I value:

• Honesty and genuine human connections.
• Patience.
• Good fun and relaxed attitude but responsibilities are taken into account. 😆

What people misunderstand about me:

I have no clue at the moment but we will definitely see that. But whatever is the misunderstanding Ako didn't mean any offence or harm and mainly it was caused by his stupidity. 😆

How I like to get my feedback:

• Directly, no need to hold back. Almost never get offended and all the feedback is considered a healthy critique.
• if the above method feels too harsh you can take a role of a guide and guide me through the darkness of my mistakes but this one might be harder since one in the dark can't see where they are going.

Strengths

• SVGs
• UI/UX is definitely one of my big interests.

• JWT

Stuff I can/like to do but maybe not as good as I think

• Database queries
• Most of the backend stuff.
• Working with react Hooks.

A huge benefit of getting to work with Ako is that his chilled and positive attitude really rubs off on you. 😇 If you're feeling overwhelmed by an issue, Ako is always there to reassure you and help to solve the problem with his very logical brain! 🧠 Ako knows lots of cool stuff about UX design concepts, and Ako likes to talk about himself in the third person.

Ako has infectious, wild and positive energy. He's super creative, loves trying out new things or in new ways and is always ready to knuckle down and get work done. It's genuinely fun working through a challenging problem with him.
