Selecting Design tab crashes Eclipse #305
-
Early in 2021 Win Jongman helped me greatly as I tried to get WindowBuilder working on my old computer. Sadly on December 16 2021 my home town in the Philippines was devastated by Super Typhoon Odette and all my computers were destroyed by the storm surge. Thankfully I now have a brand new Ryzen 5600G box and I am attempting to get started again. I installed the Eclipse Java Developers platform then got BIRT installed and running with the help of Wim Jongman. Now I have installed the latest version of WindowBuilder. I created a WindowBuilder project and a WindowBuilder SWT Application Window using the wizards. As soon as I click on the Design tab, the disk access LED lights for a couple of seconds and then the entire Eclipse application disappears. Here is my configuration obtained through CTRL+3: Here are screenshots of the steps I took, but there is no screenshot of the disappearing Eclipse window ... |

My error of course. My Java environment has two instances, 17 and 18. Windowbuilder works happily with 17 but crashed with 18 due to there being no such file as: By switching to Java 17, both BIRT and WindowBuilder are happy so that is my cure for the problem. |

My error of course. My Java environment has two instances, 17 and 18. Windowbuilder works happily with 17 but crashed with 18 due to there being no such file as:
'/usr/lib/jvm/java-18-openjdk-18.0.1.0.10-1.rolling.fc36.x86_64/lib/ct.sym'.
By switching to Java 17, both BIRT and WindowBuilder are happy so that is my cure for the problem.
