I once again cleaned up with the latest built (somehow I reverted the installation to test older versions) In my configuration I open the following relevant modules in the *.ini file:

No, that doesn't makes a difference. I think the bug is quite similar to the reflection bug for Java 16 which was cured for Eclipse with the workaround. However this also didn't work for an RCP application. The last running version was with Java 15. Unfortunately I don't get an informative error message why the design tab is empty. |

I made a fresh install of the WindowBuilder plugin in my RCP and in the workspace logfile a more interpretable error showed up. Responsible for the error is: It seems that the 'org/objectweb/asm/ClassVisitor' class can't be found. Here the complete error message: !ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 0
!ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 0 !ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 0 |

I made a new attempt and installed the latest version (Upcoming (1.12.0)). I can now sucessfully open and start the GUI when I create a new project. It seems that the latest library replacements (CGLib to ByteBuddy?) fixed the exception somehow related to the classpath. I found only one new exception with a more complex layout but the bug mentioned here is fixed. |

I still get an empty palette with Java 17 when I install the latest WindowBuilder plugin in my RCP application with the p2 Update Manager. In Eclipse however it seems to work. The following error is thrown when I open and click on the design tab:
With Java <16 there was no problem. I also tried a fresh installation with the latest built to no avail.
I can reproduce this error on MacOSX and Windows using
Eclipse Adoptium, java.version: 17.0.1
WindowBuilder version: 1.9.7.202112211354
