Public IP for DDS routers behind DNAT

Hi,

I successfully run my setup over the Internet.
My wan server is behind a proxy which redirect the port 11666 to the dds-router.

Everything work fine if I specify my proxy public IP address in the DDS router configuration.

I would like to use a more generic configuration like this :

  - name: WanParticipant                                          
    kind: wan                                               
    listening-addresses:
      - ip: 0.0.0.0                                           
        port: 11666                                            
        transport: tcp

But that's not working.
Is it possible to achieve a kind of configuration that avoid me to know my public IP address ?

Hi @PierreNeumann

Why would it be a problem to manually specify your IP address? I can only think of the case where your public IP is dynamic, in which case I suggest using a DNS server (there are many options available for free) so it is possible to specify it through the domain tag. Please have a look at Network Address for more information.

Even if we were able to implement a mechanism to automatically deduce the public IP from within the server host itself, getting this information from the clients (most likely other hosts) seems rather challenging at the moment.
