Hi!
I worked on something similar here https://github.com/nexB/pip-requirements-parser/tree/main/src
And I also made a temporary fork of packaging with https://pypi.org/project/packvers/ to support LegacyVersion.... none of these is super satifying to me and I see you have another take here. It would make sense to merge efforts!
What's your plan here? A PyPI release? Moving this to PyPA?

Hey, thanks for the interest. There isn't really much else to do here for now besides get pypa/packaging#669 merged and get this released.
