Streaming Legacy Mode

Ring has started using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) in a firmware update for some cameras. While HEVC is efficient, it is not compatible with many streaming platforms, such as HomeKit and most web browsers. You may run into issues when you try to stream via homebridge or other projects based on this project.

If you see a message like Failed to negotiate codecs, there currently is not a way to stream from that camera to HomeKit. Snapshots and doorbell events will still work, but live streaming is not available.
