Terrain restoration on board deletion
Protect players from being crushed/suffocated by moving pieces?
AI Support! Look at XBoard/UCI protocol, or maybe just a simple built-in AI. Will need to be threaded.
Piece animations - move/capture effects
Tournaments/leaderboards (maybe via separate plugin)
Move undo
Archived (PGN) game playback/review
control panel on side of board - chess clock, to-move indicator, useful buttons
