Can also mention that installation with dcrinstall (ie. CLI) is no longer necessary. And BTC SPV is now supported. |
and, like i posted here in this twitter thread: https://twitter.com/MrTurnip_Head/status/1496326710903586817 We need stats reported on places like Coinmarketcap & coingecko and many others & they just aren't going to bother reporting on our data & treating it like an exchange worth noting until the webpage for it allows anyone to see market data and with easily accessible api's so they can get all the feeds they need. The website should make use of our own endpoints to act as a window to the exchange so people can see & judge whether it's worth their time to download the blockchain to try it out. For instance.. I sent in an application to coinmarketcap last December i think it was.. to get our DEX listed.. and they haven't given me an answer after all of this time. in the application it says this: These sorts of places want to not have to log in or download stuff to see market data. This is why all of the centralized exchanges have a "markets" page that you can go to without signing in/signing up to see all of the market data like charts/prices/volume.. etc in different time-frames.. like 7 day.. 24hour.. We don't have to trade on the webpage but it needs to be kinda like a livestream of snapshot/window of what's happening on our exchange so someone just browsing can go "oh look, they have decent volume in such and such coin.. i'll go install that to try it out then" & places that are like Coinmarketcap would see that & if they are satisfied.. they would simply pick up all of the endpoint api's right there [as they should be easy to find straight on the page so they dont have to dig for them] This would act as a form of Advertising because if all of this data is reported and all api's are right there in front of their face, then all kinds of websites around the globe could plug into us to get our feeds & when their users see that there is a DEX such as ours they will want to use it. If we don't, we'll never be listed anywhere & few will know of our existence. & a lot of DCR's trading volume will be unaccounted for.. so if a new whale investor goes to coinmarketcap and sees that the reported volume from all of those Centralized exchanges is totalling a weak volume & that's all they have to show, then that investor may pass. but if our volume IS reported, then it will be added to the total from all the other exchanges & then it may look far more appealing. Please add such features |
GUI screenshot is a must! All end-user-friendly apps show a nice screenshot as a first thing on their web pages. It is like a photo of the product that you show first and then follow it with text.
Unfortunately decred.org never did that. The Release page was a step in the right direction to put "the product" (our main app) that people would actually interact with front and center. But it did not really have a full screenshot, and it is now gone anyway. DCRDEX or its coming rebrand can learn from that and become a more consumer-friendly interface to Decred. |
The page at dex.decred.org could us a refresh to reflect that there is now a GUI option for using it (Decrediton) with a screenshot or something so people can see it's more approachable.
