Stuck at low resolution NAPS 7.2.2.0 HP Laser MFP 137 fnw

I am scanning photos, have tried both WIA and Twain (several implementations). Regardless of chosen resolution I keep getting very low resolution and small files (I am guessing 100dpi since the files are about 200kb). According to specs the scanner can go up to 600dpi. I have tried HP's software and indeed I get both 300dpi and 600dpi files, but I'd much rather use NAPS2
