Resurrecting an old issue for the GitHub issue tracker,

Use case: You have loaded an assembly and annotation, and want to jump to a particular gene by name.

Currently in Tablet v1.17.08.17 you can only search by sub-sequence or read name.

I think you can largely do this already. In the Features tab you can choose to filter the table by name, typing the name of your gene should then leave only that feature in the table and clicking the feature will jump you to that location.

With the nematode GFF file I have just loaded, each exon has been shown as a separate feature, so the feature filter approach works and shows me multiple matches. This is very similar to what I expected to see via the search, which again gracefully shows multiple matches.

Being pragmatic, I would suggest adding this tip to http://tablet.hutton.ac.uk/en/latest/searching.html and perhaps changing the text on the search tab from "Search:" to "Read search:" and then closing this issue.

That sounds like an ideal way of handling this issue. Thanks for the feedback.
