Distribution process:
---------------------
* Ensure the release is complete.
- Check the TODO, NEWS and BUGS files for pending or completed tasks.
- Make sure INSTALL, THANKS and README files are up to date.
* Test build and packaging.
- Maintainance currently requires the following software packages:
+ Autoconf version 2.64 (at least)
+ GNU automake 1.7.0 (at least)
+ flex 2.5.31 (but at least 2.5.9)
+ GNU M4 (any version)
+ GNU Bison 2.6+
+ GNU gperf 3.0.1
+ adms 2.3.0 (at least)
- Get latest `config.guess' and `config.sub' from GNU servers or run the
command `automake -a -f -c' with latest automake version installed.
- Run `make distclean', `sh bootstrap' and `make all'.
- Run `make distcheck'.
- Check this status into GIT and tag it.
* Bump up version.
- Add a ChangeLog entry in toplevel directory.
- Add new section in NEWS.
- Bump up version number in `configure.ac'.
- Check into GIT.
* Distribute the package.
- Upload the package to the SourceForge server and add a News item.
- Announce the release at Freshmeat.
- Send an announcement to <[email protected]>.
