Hi everyone,

I want to propose and discuss the development of a Perceval plugin to retrieve data from https://www.gharchive.org/, comparable to what https://github.com/epam/OSCI does.

This plugin would help us to gather historical data from GitHub matching a specific search pattern (e.g. mail domains).

Do you think such a plugin is feasible and would fit into the Grimoirelab ecosystem?

Curious to hear what you think!

This is a good idea. We did something similar in the past, and I think we have the source code somewhere.

@mafesan would you mind to have a look to this?

Thank you for your feedback and swiftly replying! I'm more than happy to hear that there might already exist some source code.

Would you be willing to contribute the code to the CHAOSS community in order to have a joint starting point for further development of this plugin?

@dicortazar @mafesan Can you please have a look at this feature request? Shall we maybe have a quick call to develop a plan on how to continue on this? We're really eager to contribute in this case.

@itrich, I posted a similar issue some time ago: #814. The main conclusion of that thread is: feel free to start working on it in a repository that's maintained by you. When your solution is mature enough, it could be integrated to the core at some point.

I'm currently not involved in any project that would require this feature, so I probably can't help out too much on any actual coding, but I'd be happy to think along if necessary.
