This week, we're sharing more about our final release candidate along with our plans for our GA release at the end of the month.

Release Candidate 1

Our final release candidate was published last week, the blog post and recap for this release is available here.

This release will be our final official one before GA. However, there will be patches and minor releases cut for the v11 packages up until GA as we work with teams and projects like the Gatsby Theme and the Carbon Website. These releases are intended to address bugs or other issues that come up in our component audits.

General Availability

Our target GA date is March 31st, 2022. Our work up until this date will be around bug fixes, component audits, and migration documentation.

Migration User Journeys

We've broken down the migration to v11 into several categories depending on the type of team and their role at IBM. These categories break down roughly into:

• PALs
• Frameworks
• Libraries
• Product teams
  • Product teams who have a corresponding PAL in their Business Unit
  • Product teams who use Carbon directly through a framework or library

We're in the process of making sure the migration guide on our website:

• Accurately reflects and provides relevant information for each use-case
• Provides a clear overview of the changes in v11 and what is valuable in upgrading
• Targets specifically migration content instead of providing a comprehensive overview of all that has been added
