This week, we're talking about our first release candidate along with our plans for migration and early adoption.
Agenda
Release Candidate 0
Our Release Candidate is scheduled to be released on 1/27/2022. This release will finalize all additions that we're making to v11, barring any significant gaps that are identified during early adoption.
After this phase, we'll be focusing on bug fixes, documentation, migration, and adoption.
Migration
Our migration strategy focuses on our v11 Migration Guide. This page will be the landing point for all things related to v11. It will include guides for designers and developers to understand how to update their project to v11.
For developers, we will also be offering a CLI tool,
@carbon/upgrade
, that will allow a developer to choose an appropriate migration path and apply codemods to their project. For use-cases that these codemods do not cover, we will have package-specific migration material available on GitHub.Adoption
In order to test out our migration flow and identify gaps in our implementation, we would love to find teams who have the capacity to work with us to adopt (or try out adopting) v11 before GA.
In this first wave, we'd love to have representation from either framework, PAL, or product teams. If you're interested in helping, please reach out!
