Pi 4 with ArchLinuxARM-rpi-armv7-latest.tar.gz

The dtoverlay parameter speeds up the browser/gpu but take care since omxplayer will not work with vc4-kms-v3d but works with vc4-fkms-v3d.

Make sure to plug the HDMI cable to HDMI1. This is the one furthest away from the power connection!

Wordpress

Wordpress page not showing or chopped up

A non-working or chopped up wordpress site usually occurs if the IP address of the Pi (configured as server) had an IP change. To fix it, just rerun srv_rootafterboot.bash again on the Pi. This will update the IP address in the necessary configuration files. As a side effect, the passwords for the database and the dsadmin account will be re-generated, so watch for the output of the script to have the new passwords available.

I forgot the password for dsadmin

If you forgot the password for the user dsadmin, just rerun the script srv_rootafterboot.bash on the Pi. It will regenerate all passwords! Make sure you watch the output of the script to get the new passwords.

change wordpress settings via CLI

By default the wordpress backend of RaspiSignage is configured to list on http://<ip of pi>. If the IP changes wordpress might no longer function. Besides that you should always use a fixed IP when using the server part of RaspiSignage you could update the siteurl, home and blogname of the wordpress installation using wp-cli.phar.

Example 1

Replace every occurrence of http://10.11.12.13 in the wordpress database with http://dsserver

php /root/wp-cli.phar search-replace http://10.11.12.13 http://dsserver --allow-root --path=/srv/http/

Example 2

Change siteurl, home or blogname of the wordpress instance

php /root/wp-cli.phar option set siteurl http://dsserver --allow-root --path=/srv/http/
php /root/wp-cli.phar option set home http://dsserver --allow-root --path=/srv/http/
php /root/wp-cli.phar option set blogname dsserver --allow-root --path=/srv/http/

Of course you can also change other settings using wp-cli.phar just type php /root/wp-cli.phar --help --allow-root to see all options

Chromium not starting

September 29th 2022

Chromium does not start after updating the system. Chromium searches for libFLAC.so.8 but archlinux delivers libFLAC.so.12. As a workarround you could just create a symlink for libFLAC.so.8 in /usr/lib with the following commands:

cd /usr/lib
ln -s libFLAC.so libFLAC.so.8

Chromium now starts again. I hope the Chromium package will be updated, soon.
