TEI allows us to record both original and regularized spellings when quoting passage from a manuscripts, e.g. in text incipits, using the choice/orig/reg elements. E.g. <choice><orig>Obseruancie</orig><reg>observantiae</reg></choice>. The main reason for doing this would be to make easier for users to search across incipits, explicits and rubrics. On the other hand, it might be possible to get similar results with some rules about fuzzy searching in those fields. What do you think?
