Evaluate aexpect replacements #1177

Although we don't need to do it in a hurry, I'd like to take a look in possible replacements for the aexpect code. Pros:

We won't have to maintain it

Cons:

We'd depend on some 3rd party libraries, that might not be very well available

In any case, this is the first I'd like to look at
