I'm trying to use Trivy to generate a SBOM. I'm trying to run this over a filesystem. What I'm hoping to see is the complete set of RPMs, binaries, python modules, dynamic libraries, and other information. What I seem to be getting is the python and go modules. I'm not seeing RPMs nor am I seeing binaries. Am I doing something wrong or is this expected?
The filesystem that this is being run over is designed to be a bootable image. I've expanded it into a local workspace and am trying to scan it to build an SBOM. I could understand if stuff like the RPM db is not present (the file would be there, but the workspace rpmdb may overwrite that) but I'm surprised none of the traditional (compiled C++) binaries are listed.

Hello,
I'm trying to use Trivy to generate a SBOM.
I am running trivy using the following commands:
trivy filesystem --format cyclonedx
trivy rootfs --format cyclonedx
The filesystem that this is being run over is designed to be a bootable image. I've expanded it into a local workspace and am trying to scan it to build an SBOM. I could understand if stuff like the RPM db is not present (the file would be there, but the workspace rpmdb may overwrite that) but I'm surprised none of the traditional (compiled C++) binaries are listed.
Cheers,
Ethan
