Are annotations supported for .dzi items? If they are not currently supported, is there a plan to add that?

Annotations on .dzi files are not supported, and we don't currently have plans to implement. As an alternative, our IIIF player Mirador does support annotations, but they would need to be created externally and would be local to the player (i.e., not Scalar "native" annotations).
