# ETH2.0 has 3 phrases:
- 0 = beacon chain - core pieces, networking, signature schemes, randomness
- 1 = mechanics of independently operating 1024 shard chains
- 2 = execution engine, trannsaction through space, account model ### = life of ETH2.0 - opns up state execution and computation
# Beacon chain = Shard chain
- ability to use ether with contract, wallets, applicationa
- has native ether = deposit 32 ETH - became validator / staker
- doesn’t have a concept of native ether
- stores a list of reciepts in every block
# Shard chains + state execution fuctions = reflections and integrations of the framework defined in the Beacon Chain contract
- shard chains don’t need state
# Road from ETH 1.0 to ETH 2.0 - BLS Signature schema (application layner not consensus layer)
## 1.0 -> Beacon Chain contract 0 -> Shard number (example - 5) <- shard chain
- Have ETH on 1.0 chain
- move it to Beacon chain contract with validator / staking account
- deposit to shard
- = create account on shard chain by adding another function to Beacon chain contract = reduce balance in your (our) account >
- = increase balance in recieving account <
# Notes
- to make transaction happen you need to provide Merkle branches for the state values of the transaction
- no big database storage is needed on active nodes
- nodes can use withness data in every transaction as database
- storage + storage fees can be removed from core protocol
- core protocol needs merkle hash/ compression value
- with cross shard transactions you don’t need to wait epoch period - 6 mins to make transaction happen
-> cross chain can combine transaction on multiple shards
