Now getting

AppRun: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /run/firejail/appimage/.appimage-9287/lib/libQt5Widgets.so.5)

Yes, Meson Player does not support Xenial. It's written in the README (though maybe not very clear).

Currently I have no plans of supporting old systems, but I'll leave this bugreport open and maybe I'll change my mind in the future.
