To explain this request, my monitor has a non-standard resolution and the EDID is old so it wants to use a refresh rate of 59.90873 Hz and only that refresh rate instead of a more normal one like 59.940 or 60 even though it's perfectly capable of other refresh rates at native resolution such as 50 Hz. In desktop mode it's not an issue because I can simply write my own modelines, but this only works for X.Org. In Wayland there is no real configure file modeline ability.. it gives you whatever it read from the EDID, even if it's not the best configuration.
A developer mode option to simply key in the values that would apply in gaming mode's wayland would be useful for some.
It would also be useful in that I would for example be able to key in a modeline for any given vertical refresh to use with games with a matching framerate, eg. the handheld's ability to set the screen to 45 Hz to match with games that are 45 fps.
As this is an advanced feature, all values should be blank and once clicking apply there should be a 5 second timer in case someone keyed in the wrong values creating a blank screen, in which case it reverts back to what was there before.
