[Feature Request] Copy selected text to clipboard

Can I add the feature where when we select any text it automatically goes to the clipboard without pressing ctr + c ?

This is a popular request. There was even a PR at some point but I had so little time back then I couldn't even finish reviewing it. Unfortunately it became obsolete since GNOME 45.

I would really like to support this but I have very little time to maintain this extension and there are currently a couple of more pressing issues that I am focused on.

If anyone would like to attempt implementing this I would accept a PR. It might require some back-and-forth but should be feasible. For sense of scope, here is the previous PR that I did not merge:

In hindsight I should have merged it back then but now the codebase has diverged too far.
