Improve how the program responds to commands

This program has worked slowly at some moments since October 2023.
A few times it failed to respond.
I don't see how I can accept this.
I cannot imagine myself asking a human being to accept any unreliable service.
When something like this happens to a software developer, they can get help e.g. from Sol Computing.
