Since there are strange admin issues for some of the programs that we use in these workshops, it would be great to have detailed instructions of how to get around these issues and complete the installation of the programs before the workshops.

This would have the added benefit of being a short document that the instructors/organizers could read ahead of time that would help them troubleshoot when learners have installation problems.

The python one (and other relevant workshop topics) could also include opening up a jupyter notebook for the first time, since it's not necessarily an intuitive process even after Anaconda is theoretically installed.

Ideally these instructions would have screenshots (from mac and pc) showing what things should look like at different installation stages, and some way to "test" that the installed program is functioning correctly.
