The pre-workshop checklist is geared toward in person workshops (which is helpful! Things are going back in person!) but there should be another one for online workshops.

Should include:

  • creating events/appointments/invites for calendars
  • sending reminder emails to participants (including installation instructions)
  • sending emails with details to participants
  • creating eventbrite events
  • logistics meeting with instructors and helpers before the workshop
  • making the workshop website
  • creating feedback forms
  • creating etherpads
  • creating zoom meetings with the right settings for each day
  • workshop announcements to participants
  • workshop announcements to instructors
  • register the workshop with the Carpentries org
  • creating a slack channel for in-workshop communication between instructors and helpers

I think that's what I have so far.

This is invaluable! I was actually planning on asking you for this today. A lot of it is actually relevant to in-person workshops (except for the Zoom meetings and the Slack channel), so we could probably get by with modifying https://smithsonianworkshops.github.io/si-carpentries-handbook/preworkshop_checklist.html.

You might be able to tell, but that page was the beginning of this whole handbook.
