Chameleon kits do not appear to function

Reproduction:

Found a chameleon kit while exploring space with someone, was found in the syndicate listening post. The Kit was legitimate as confirmed by Triple Skrek, who despawned it and spawned in a fresh kit, which also did not appear to function.
