I think this should be a new topic page under an expandable topic group named
FAIR

  • the FAIR principles (existing page)
    • add something about that FAIR principles were originally for data but is now applied to all kinds of research outputs
  • FAIRification (new page that this issue was originally about)
    • Describe the concept of FAIR not being binary, and that one can make existing outputs more FAIR or adopt a FAIRer way of working.
  • FAIR by design (new page)
    • Describe the concept of thinking ahead of time to make things FAIR by design. Setting up automated systems that capture the technical metadata for example.

Check the presentation by Sara for Meet a DS for inspiration, maybe?

Found my notes with key-points, I think they are from Sara's presentation:

What does FAIR mean to you?

  • write a DMP
  • choose file formats wisely
  • use versioning strategies
  • organise your data / clear structure
  • appropriate file naming
  • document everything
  • do reproducible research

This is related to issue #280 , isn't it?
