Setting up Transmission 2.84 with DuckieTV 1.1.2

This is a step by step guide on how to set up Transmission 2.84+ with DuckieTV. This guide is based on my installation on a Windows 7 platform of Transmission-Qt, the windows flavour of Transmission, but this guide should hold true across the other platforms (more or less).

###Pre requisites:### Transmission 2.84 or newer. Get the latest Mac & Unix version at the official download site here and the Windows version at the official download site here

DuckieTV 1.1.2 or newer. Get the latest version at the official download site here

Once you have installed Transmission, start it up and

###access the Remote Control configuration page.###

  • Click on the Edit menu entry and select Preferences Click on the Edit menu entry and select Preferences

  • Click on the Remote tab to bring up the Remote Control panel Click on the Remote tab to bring up the Remote Control panel

  • enable Remote Access and User Authentication by clicking on both check boxes enable Remote Access and User Authentication by clicking on both check boxes

  • Enter a Username and Password and then click the Close button Enter a Username and Password and then click the Close button

Start up DuckieTV and ###configure the DuckieTV Transmission Integration.###

  • Start up DuckieTV and click on the Settings Icon Start up DuckieTV and click on the Settings Icon

  • And then click on the Torrent button And then click on the Torrent button

  • Now click on the Transmission radio button Now click on the Transmission radio button

  • And then click on the Reload DuckieTV to use Transmission button And then click on the Reload DuckieTV to use Transmission button

  • Next, click on the Transmission Integration button Next click on the Transmission Integration button

  • Enter the same Username and Password that you used on the Transmission Remote Control settings page Enter the same Username and Password that you used on the Transmission Remote Control settings page

  • And press the Test and Save button And press the Test and Save button

  • you are connected! you are connected! If all went well, you should see a green dot next to the Transmission Icon on the left hand side.

###Problems?###

  • If you previously tried a connection and failed, and subsequently followed this guide and are still not connected, first try clicking on the DuckieTV Transmission icon on the left. This will retry the connection attempt.
  • If the connection is still not established, try closing both Transmission and DuckieTV and starting them up again. Then click on the DuckieTV Transmission icon to try establishing a connection.
  • Still not connected? Check the DuckieTV console log for errors, by pressing the F12 key to open the development tools page, and clicking on the console tab to view the log. Errors and feel free to raise a ticket on GitHub here, or submit a post on Reddit here
