When should graded assignments be released?

Kian: one thing that I am seeing more and more is that this FRAME-Less going over FRAME, and later on FRAME's assignment going over polkadot is not a good idea. maybe I am biased, but I feel like I am seeing many more students who are coding FRAME-Less while half-listening to the lecture

Joshy: Yes exactly this is the problem with having graded work out while lectures are going on. It is not just that it is in another module. Even in week 2, we couldn't get engagement on in-class activities once the graded assignment was released.

Shawn: I don't necessarily feel that this is always by principle. I felt happy about students getting the frame assignment, learning frame, and doing the live coding stuff at the end of the day in BA academy. IN this case, what they learn in class was helping them with the assignment. The issue is when the content of the course is not related to the assignment

What lessons did we learn from UCB about the timing and framing of graded work? At least as it stands now, graded work is highly prioritized over optional activities & being present in class it seems.

Off topic a bit but another related topic:motivation and focus on obtaining a score and/or graduating trumps learning. We want more "learning, not earning" mindsets for everyone.
