Issue

Text occasionally disappears, reappears, and shifts wrongly as I move my cursor about the screen. Here is an example with the default keyboard.toml.

Info

Hi @elihunter173 ,

Thanks for the report! My first idea (and hope) is that this bug is related to the default color but the select behavior seems to tell otherwise.

I look into it ASAP.

Was able to reproduce, seems to be fixed by installing syntact plugin

@Waelwindows How did you install the syntact plugin?

Hi @Waelwindows, you need to install the plugin manually from the xi repository.

Thanks for the information! This make me wonder which is used without syntect plugin. I guess it's black, like the background....

@Peltoche Sorry to ask for this, but I need some extra information about what files need to be where, and what commands have to be executed to include the plugin manually. My naive attempts were to put all the files that syntect needed in the plugins dir, but it seemed like all the directories in xi-editor/rust were going to need to be there, which felt wrong so I stopped. TY!

oh never mind, it looks like I was missing the make install in the syntect-plugin within the xi-editor root.

I'm having similar issues. The text by default is black for me on my black terminal. Using visual selection makes it show up.

Did you run the make install command within the syntect-plugin in the xi-editor repos rust directory?

No because I suck at reading (and also don't generally install things), but I'll check. Sorry about that. Not sure how I feel about needing to install it to run...
